I WANT TO INSPIRE PEOPLE. I WANT SOMEONE TO LOOK AT ME AND SAY BECAUSE OF YOU, I DIDN’T GIVE UP.
Iris Davids is a senior professional nurse with 18 years of experience. She has a four year comprehensive diploma. Diploma in General, Psychiatry, Community and Midwifery. She graduated in 1994 at was the Coronation Hospital. She went on to work at Helen Joseph Hospital from 1995 till 1999. She worked in gynaecology and then moved on to work in Casualty. She decided to move to the United Kingdom in July 1999 and worked there as a registered nurse first in Winchester in acute medical for a year and then moved to the Lister Hospital in Chelsea. She worked in the surgical ward and the high care dependency unit. While working at Lister she became the sister in charge of the day ward where her passion for fertility patients started. The Lister has a large fertility unit and that was her first exposure to fertility patients. She resided in the United Kingdom from 1999 till 2004. She has extensive experience in Gynaecology, Casualty/Trauma, High Care, Medical and surgical care.
On moving back to South Africa 2005 she volunteered for a year as a HIV counsellor at an organisation called PUSH in Eldorado Park where her understanding of the HIV problem stemmed from a grass root level. She always says this was a formative year for her and makes her so compassionate in what nursing truly means to her.
She came back into nursing in a day unit and it was here that she was introduced to Dr Mohamed in 2007 and who would awaken a need so often overlooked. Her passion for fertility was awakened.
